ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE
A young couple, The Author and The Director, discuss how to build the play that they have to take to the theater. In recent years, the world has been convulsed by the pandemic, the economic crisis and the war. This makes her, the author, more negative when it comes to creating a story. The director, for his part, appeals more to emotions and feelings as a way of salvation. In the middle of their discussions appear boxers, Indians, false singers, drag queens and even spies. All of them characters from the early 20th century inspired by the songs of Maestro Alonso. Characters who introduce us to their entanglements with black humor and who make us see that, although their world is a reflection of the past, their problems are not that far from the present. Finally we understand that part of The author’s anger has to do with a personal loss and that the fact of doing a Zarzuela today is for her the last attempt not to lose everything, because if there is something that persists even if those around the ones we love, is his memory. The memory will always be there. Keeping it is an act of love and appealing to love in this, our time, can almost be considered an act of rebellion.
