ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE

This is a musical theater work for young people freely inspired by the famous children’s novel “BFG” by Roald Dahl. The young composer Patrizio Castiglia oversaw the adaptation of the screenplay, the libretto and the music, projecting on stage one of the best known stories of the British writer, for the first time in the form of musical theatre. At Prima Materia they worked on preparing the music with 50 students aged between 15 and 25, 4 young soloists and 6 adult soloists. In addition to the Prima Materia orchestra, 15 Swiss music students from the “Il Mosaico” and “Vivaldissimo” orchestras of Wattwil, conducted by Hermann Ostendarp, were also involved. In addition, 4 students with special needs were also included in the program, testifying to how music can be an important vehicle of inclusiveness.

The preparation of the work was followed by 9 professional Prima Materia musicians including the composer, the arranger, the conductor, the choir director and instrument and voice teachers, including Simone Faraoni and Ilaria Salvini. While the association “Mascarà – Teatro Popolare d’Arte” of Lastra a Signa has made available the director Gianfranco Pedullà, the set designer Franco Venturi and the light supervisor Gianni Pollini. The usual ones who will perform on stage are Fidia Poggiali, Agata Martignone, Henry Brown, Elena Biagini, Tama Hardy, Donata Copertini Amati, Furio Fuochi, Stefano Mimo Mignani, Claudio Gozzi, Luca Frediani, Pietro Majonini and Simone Faraoni.
