ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE
The concert began with the suite of Rodrigo, Handel’s first opera written in Italy.
Then, the works of Vivaldi and Handel, the most famous Italian composers of the Baroque period, were performed alternately.
The former’s two four-violin concertos (F major and B minor) were of different styles, one soothing and the other gorgeous;
as for the other two pieces of music of the latter, they were the beautiful aria “Guardian Angel Watching Over Me”, selected from his last oratorio “The Triumph of Time and Truth”,
and the large soprano cantata “So Cruel That I Cry”, with three arias and two recitatives in series, paved by oboe and strings, rich in layers and inspiring.
