ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE
Penélope 19 is a “domestic opera” with the theme of the quarantine of COVID-19 related to the classic myth of “waiting”, showing an independent and current Penelope, who does not wait for her husband, only waits for simple contact with the outside world.
The work seeks to translate in a sometimes torn, sometimes ironic way, the epic feeling within the microcosm of an upper middle class apartment in Rio de Janeiro.
The film represents a novelty in the universe of audiovisual, being the first smartphone film-opera in this format, with unpublished music and libretto and pronounced experimental character. All the sounds used in the music of the film were recorded in the apartment of the actress / singer of the opera. These sounds were later processed and re-elaborated in a real concrete-electroacoustic composition, making the sound become a second character in the film.
