ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE
The Great Hall of the St. Petersburg Philharmonic will host a musical performance “Oratorio about the Holy Land” Farewell Hour in Jerusalem “. The idea and authorship of the project belong to the nun Euphrosyne (Matveeva), who heads the charitable foundation in memory of the Reverend Martyr Grand Duchess Elizabeth Feodorovna.
The oratorio includes 13 pre-revolutionary cants about the birth, life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The chants are arranged for the full orchestra, choir and 4 soloists. The musical parts of the oratorio are connected into a single fabric by texts from the New and Old Testaments, which are performed by two dramatic actors, a man and a woman, who create images of the first people on Earth.
During the performance of the entire work, two video sequences are presented on three screens. They consist of sand animations made with colored sand.
