This year, the light and music show in honor of the 320th anniversary of the Northern capital will begin at 23:15. The program will traditionally be opened by the Northern Symphony Symphony Orchestra conducted by maestro Fabio Mastrangelo. Then, exactly at midnight, the spans of the Palace Bridge will solemnly raise the “Hymn to the Great City” to the music of R. Gliere, and the sky of St. Petersburg will be illuminated by the lights of the Rostral columns, which are one of the main symbols of the city on the Neva.
The musical program will continue with masterpieces of Russian and foreign musical classics – the Spanish dance from the ballet “Swan Lake” by P. Tchaikovsky, the Festive Overture by D. Shostakovich, the aria Casta Diva from the opera “Norma” by V. Bellini and fragments from the opera “Romeo and Juliet” by S. Gounod.
