ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE
Viktor Ullmann Der Kaiser von Atlantis
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Messa da requiem K 626
Quote from maredolce.com:
“The opera signed by the musical director of the Massimo Omer Theater Meir Wellber (photo in the text) and by the director Marco Gandini , was entitled Kaiserrequiem . And it is not a simple representation of Der Kaiser von Atlantis but a new creation based on the interweaving of Viktor Ullmann ‘s work with Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart ‘s Requiem Mass K 626 .
It is therefore an original work, which already in the title intertwines for the first time two masterpieces united by the theme of incompleteness and death: Der Kaiser von Atlantis by Viktor Ullmann, written by the Austrian composer in the hell of the Theresienstadt concentration camp, and the Requiem Mass K 626 which Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart composed on his deathbed.
Wellber and Gandini make the two works dialogue, creating a new show that leverages the musical and dramaturgical affinities that bind them and make them alive and that investigate the deepest questions of humanity: death, love and resurrection.”
