Anna Salova – stage director of G. Donizetti’s opera “Love Potion”:
“Staging G. Donizetti’s opera L’elisir d’amore in the laboratory was a challenge for me. This is one of the most famous operatic works, and in most cases something familiar is expected from the performance. However, the popularity of music often prevents revealing new facets both in the characters’ characters and in relationships.
While maintaining respect for the Italian tradition, it was still important for me to get away from the canons we are used to and show this story in a more intimate way, to consider it from a different angle.
Based, first of all, on the laboratory principle, we do not deviate from the true nature of our young artists – the heroes are as close as possible to us today. The characters are on the verge of adulthood, and each of them draws certain lessons from their actions.
