“On March 18, 2023, the Tikhvin audience was introduced to the successful premiere of this season – the opera The Legend of the Invisible City of Kitezh and the Maiden Fevronia directed by Alexei Stepanyuk with rich and colorful costumes by Irina Cherednikova. Stepanyuk’s new production is an edition of his previous performance in 1994, adapted for modern audience, but has not lost its metaphorical spirit, philosophical spirit and other features that made the previous production a hit.
Speaking about the upcoming tour, Valery Gergiev emphasized “the wonderful opportunities and very special atmosphere of the Tikhvin stage, where listeners can fully enjoy the outstanding scores”, and also noted the need to perform the works of the greatest Russian composers in their homeland
