ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE
Founded to promote cultural understanding between continents, Opera for Peace works to train emerging artists to become ambassadors of fundamental values that have a positive impact on society and future generations. For a week in April 2024, Opera for Peace brought together a group of young artists from around the world at the Villa Medici in Rome to learn from each other and from a selection of their Artistic Ambassadors, some of today’s leading artists. This film features six singers who participated in masterclasses with Opera for Peace Ambassadors and tenors Lawrence Brownlee and Brian Jagde.
Lawrence Brownlee is a leading figure in the opera world, both as a tenor on the world’s great stages and as a voice for activism and diversity in the industry. He captivates audiences and critics around the globe and has been hailed as “an international star of the bel canto opera repertoire” (The New York Times). Described internationally as an artist with a “remarkable future” (Opera World), American tenor Brian Jagde has had a celebrated career on the world’s leading opera stages. In the 23/24 season, Brian Jagde returned to Covent Garden and the Metropolitan Opera as Don Alvaro in Verdi’s La forza del destino, followed by his house debut in Cavalleria rusticana at the Teatro alla Scala.
