ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE
Giovanni Buonaventura Viviani was born in 1638 in Florence and began working at the age of eighteen as a violinist at the court of Innsbruck , from 1656 until at least 1660 .
Between 1672 and 1676 he was master of the court chapel in Innsbruck, which after the extinction of the House of Habsburg-Tyrol with the premature death of the Count of Tyrol Sigismund Francis of Austria had come under the control of Emperor Leopold I.
Viviani, in the frontispiece of his Capricci harmonics of 1678, still qualifies himself as “Chapel Master of His MAJESTY CESAREA IN INSPRUCK”, but in all probability, on the contrary, he was already in Venice to take care of the staging of the his work Astyage from 1677. From 1678 to 1682 he was a theater impresario in Naples . In 1678 he was in Rome, where he directed an oratory at the Oratory of San Marcello in which Arcangelo Corelli and Bernardo Pasquini participated . In the same period (1678), he would have been raised to the nobility, as from that moment it was customary to present himself as a Noble of the Holy Roman Empire.
In 1686 he became chapel master of Carlo Sanseverino, prince of Bisignano , and his drama L’Eliodoro was performed at the wedding of his daughter Aurora with Niccolò Gaetani dell’Aquila d’Aragona, duke of Laurenzana .
From January 1687 to December 1692 he was maestro di cappella at the Cathedral of Pistoia , where he probably died the following year
