ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE
La Fantarca is presented as a “one-act television work” and opens with the image of the planet Earth in rotation , while a voiceover announces that we are around the year 2250 . The Earth , he points out, has maintained its known motion and proportions, except for a distortion of its axis, which now crosses the globe horizontally. On closer inspection, however, it can be seen that the new axis represents, in fact, the dividing line that separates, without possible reconciliation, two enormous political blocks: the block of the “Triangle” and the block of the “Square”, which correspond respectively to the northern and southern hemispheres. Both, under the control of superior machines, strive relentlessly to increase their power in order to prevail over the other.
