ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE
Classical music was her teenage rebellion, an escape that crackled across the radio waves at night, flooding her with dreams of a life far from rural Georgia.
But now, after a career singing on the world’s great stages, acclaimed mezzo-soprano Jamie Barton is ready to get back to the music that inspired her in the first place. Go on a journey to the rolling green hills of Appalachia with “In Song: Jamie Barton,” an exploration of Barton’s musical roots, from bluegrass to the church harmonies passed from father to daughter.
Joining her is 15-time Grammy winner Béla Fleck, who collaborates with Barton on performances of Henry Purcell’s “Music for a While” and the traditional folk ballad “Bury Me Beneath the Willow Tree.”
“In Song: Jamie Barton” featuring Béla Fleck—made in partnership with Hardly Strictly Bluegrass—is available to stream now.
