Giovanni Battista Ferrandini ( Venice , c. 1710 – Munich , 25 November 1791 ) was an Italian composer .
Ferrandini trained musically under the instruction of Antonio Biffi at the Conservatorio dei Mendicanti in Venice and completed his education presumably with Pietro Torri and Antonio Bernabei in Munich . He arrived in this city at the age of twelve and, despite his young age, soon became an oboist at the court chapel. In 1732 he was elevated to Kammerkomponist (chamber composer) and in 1737 to Direktor der Kammermusik ( chamber music director ). In Munich he composed the opera Cato in Uticato usher in the solemn opening of the court theater Teatro Cuvilliés in 1753 , designed by the Bavarian court architect François de Cuvilliés the Elder . In 1735 , for the Italian ‘revival’ wanted by the king, he oversaw the revival of Leonardo Vinci ‘s opera Alessandro nell’Indie , composing a new symphony and some new arias for it, keeping others and adding a couple at the end of the second act (…) by Domenico Sarro and at the beginning of the third Vede il helmsman the shore knows by Johann Adolf Hasse . In 1755Ferrandini left Munich to move to Padua , where he founded a music academy. Even in Padua he was a highly esteemed composer, so much so that he received a visit from Leopold Mozart and his son Wolfgang Amadeus . He returned permanently to Munich in 1790 .
