ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE
The opera consists of a prologue, nine scenes, two interludes and an epilogue.
The music plays on two levels: on the one hand it tries to interpret the Edenic events through the eyes of Eve and on the other it tries to read the events for what they are. And the first reflection on the score is linguistic, as well as material, through expressively strong combinations, supporting and interpreting the many facets of the restless and volcanic protagonist.
Eva is a fascinating creature, talkative and sentimental, curious and perpetually amazed at the
wonders of a world in its nascent state: Eva baptizes things and animals, discovers fire and
love, speaks of herself as an “experiment”, gives the word to Adam and creates the earthly Paradise around him, fantasizes about him and about the end of a dream. Eve’s femininity gradually insinuates itself into the more concrete microcosm of Adam, until he makes him see the world through her eyes, until he says, on her tomb, that “Wherever she was, that was Eden!”
