ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE
GIACOMO IMMORTAL is a show that intertwines prose and opera with which we want to pay homage to the memory of Maestro Giacomo Puccini on the centenary of his death, which occurred on 29 November 1924.
The enormous bibliography that revolves around this very important personality has always been divided between the exaltation of the musician and the condemnation of the person. In Giacomo the capricious child, the tombeur des femmes, the sublime musician, the generous friend, the arrogant landowner coexist. Black and white, in short.
Giacomo probably had a very sad character. Even if given to humor, in reality, he almost always brought out a pessimistic soul. His ironic, self-deprecating and wildly sarcastic temperament hid, deep down, a negativity that accompanied him throughout his life. This strong sensitivity put him in perfect harmony with the female universe, just as his paroxysmal way of life led him to celebrate music, friends and success every day, enhancing his visceral love and hatred for life.
The strength and charm of Giacomo Puccini arise from being a real, complex and contradictory man. The bottom of his soul has been prey to something indefinite all his life, a melancholy, an inextricable and inexplicable tangle of emotion and boredom, of suffering and regrets. A well-rounded man, not an aseptic icon, because life feeds on imperfection, it feeds on his contradictions. Imperfection says something, perfection says nothing.
In this show, which we can define as a cross-over between prose theater and musical theatre, we will try to retrace some key points of the intense life of Giacomo Puccini and his wife Elvira Germignani, providing, through different points of view, material for reflection for the spectators.
