ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE

ALL BACH CANTATAS. Season VII “300 Years Later”. Concerto Sixth

COLLEGIUM MUSICUM Ensemble Artistic Director and Conductor — Oleg ROMANENKO Laureate of international competitions, soloist of the Sverdlovsk State Academic Philharmonic Society Taras BAGINETS — organ The Collegium Musicum ensemble under the direction of Oleg Romanenko continues a grandiose project, within the framework of which all of Bach’s cantatas are performed on historical instruments in the space of the cathedral. The seventh season of the unique cycle is dedicated to the anniversary date — exactly 300 years ago, Johann Sebastian took up the post of cantor of the Church of St. Thomas in Leipzig, transforming the musical landscape of the city and, ultimately, the entire future history of music. The 2023/24 season will feature cantatas created in Bach’s first year in his new position. Comments by the leading expert on early sacred music, associate professor of the Moscow Conservatory Roman Nasonov help listeners comprehend the meaning of Bach’s masterpieces. The program includes: Cantata BWV 144 Nimm, was dein ist, und gehe hin (“Take what is yours and go”) Cantata BWV 181 Leichtgesinnte Flattergeister (“Frivolous, flighty people”) Cantata BWV 22 Jesus nahm zu sich die Zwölfe (“Jesus called the twelve disciples to Himself”) Cantata BWV 23 Du wahrer Gott und Davids Sons (“O true God, Son of David”) PERFORMERS: Oleg Romanenko, Roman Nasonov, Collegium Musicum Ensemble
